Luther's Pheasant hunting is located in Mesick, Michigan. Located about 30 miles south of Traverse City, in the northwest corner of Wexford County. Over the last 12 years we have become one of Michigan's top hunting preserves, satisfying hunters from all corners of our state. We shoot 13,000 birds from September through November - you will have no complaints with our strong flying birds. At our preserve, your hunting enjoyment is our #1 priority.
Season: September 1st through November 14th, we hunt 7 days per week, offering 2 hunts per day. Our morning hunt runs from 8am - 12pm, and our afternoon hunt runs from 1pm - 5pm. Large groups with large bird numbers may hunt the entire day.
Fields: We use 7 different fields to place our hunters in. Field sizes range from 30 acres up to 80 acres. We will place you in the appropriate field according to gun and bird numbers. Our hunting cover varies from field to field. Cover ranges from natural grasses, to over grown hay fields (CRP ground), to sorghum.
Birds: $14.00 per bird with a minimum of 4 birds per gun. Ringneck pheasants are released with a 50/50 mix of hens and roosters.
Bird Cleaning: Bird cleaning is available on Saturdays and Sundays only. We do have a fully equipped self-cleaning station that is available throughout the week.
Dogs: We have dogs and their handlers available, we charge $60 per 1/2 day hunt for a group of up to four hunters. You are more than welcome to hunt with your own dog. If you do need dogs, we will need to know that in advance. We do have both pointing and flushing dogs available.
European Hunts: We offer a couple of European hunts throughout the season. Those dates will be posted here on our website as soon as we know. If you can round up a group of 10 or more hunters, we will be happy to hold a hunt on a date that is convenient for you. The cost of this hunt is $180.00 per hunter. A 50% non-refundable deposit will hold your spot. The following is what will be included in your hunt:
- 15 birds released per hunter
- walk up hunt following
- birds cleaned
- prime rib dinner
